Richa earned her bachelor's degrees in bioengineering and computer science from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 2020. She then spent two years in a full-time research position investigating orthopaedic biomechanics and additive manufacturing of implants at the McKay Orthopaedic Research Laboratories, University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine before starting medical school. Richa has since continued her research on the biomechanical performance and clinical outcomes of orthopaedic implants and procedures, with a particular focus on improving outcomes for female patients. She is on track to graduate with an MD/MSE in 2027 and looks forward to continuing her advocacy in these areas throughout her career.
As part of the SpeakUpOrtho team, Richa is passionate about promoting an inclusive environment for women in orthopaedics and aims to amplify the voices of female medical students pursuing careers in orthopaedic surgery.
